Adult Fantasy Fiction: A Wall of ThornsA Country Cursed by a mysterious blight known simply as the Bramble, Murdurance has spent the last thousand years just trying to survive. Not knowing what else to do, they built a wall around their capital in the hopes that one day the curse would be lifted. Need to accommodate their ever growing population, they couldn't grow out, so they had to grow up. Building upwards, while some are left in the sun, the rest get left behind in the darkness, and there's no place darker than the Pit.
Nell Crag was raised in the Pit. Exposed to the seedy underbelly of Murdurance, Nell did what anyone in her situation would do. She became a thief, and a good one at that. In fact, some would say that she's the best, which is why she keeps taking riskier and riskier jobs, living each day as though it were her last. For the most part, Nell seems to be rising to the challenge, but that comes a job so big, Nell wonders if she can pull it off, especially when doing so might mean the end of the curse and the salvation at last of Murdurance. |
