Middle Grade Fantasy Fiction:
Aida Cipresso and Bit of Bad Blood

Aida Cipresso never really intended on applying for an internship with the Magical government. All she really wanted to do was shut up some obnoxious girl in her class who said they would never choose someone like her for a spot. Being half-nymph and half-witch at a school for witches, teachers often underestimated her magical talent, and her classmates frequently bullied her. Aida just wanted to shut them up for once.

But then she got the job. Aida wanted to quit, but her mother refused to let her. Internships like this looked good on college applications, so Aida was stuck.

Deciding it was best just to keep her head down and ride out the school year, she had no intention of seeking out trouble, but fate had other plans. Before she knew it, Aida had uncovered a plot to assassinate the Secretary of Magic that only she, her co-worker Natalie, an ogre named Hugo, and her best friend Jose could stop.  Fail and it would mean the collapse of the magical world as they knew it.

The Story Continues...

Aida Cipresso and a Bit of Bad Blood is merely the beginning. Not only do I have seven more books in the series, but before there was Aida, there was Weed Silverton, the Pendragon Heir and the Second Great Magical War. Taking place in Chicago it tells the events that lead to the formation of the New Magical Government. Please find the description of book one, Sir Weed and the Dragon below:

Up in Chicago, just outside of Lincoln Park is a dingy gray building with crumbling steps and dust covered windows. Not much to look at, most people just pass it by. Unbeknownst to them, behind those doors lies the greatest school there has ever been: The Academy.

Run by King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, The Academy trains their male descendants in the noble arts of chivalry, so they can become knight themselves. Those that manage to make it to graduation become the Magical World's Police Force, charged with keeping the magical world secret and safe from the rest of the world, who would seek to use and abuse it. For most Academy students, it is a place that they had dreamed of attending their whole lives, but not everyone is quite so thrilled to begin.

For Wendell Silverton the start of school marks the beginning of the end. Attending the Academy is the next step in his journey towards the ultimate battle between the forces of light and dark magic. The long foretold Pendragon Heir, it is Weed’s destiny to lead the forces of light magic to victory, a battle which is to take place on the eve of his eighteenth birthday. However, before Weed can win the war, he has to first survive The Academy first, starting with a freshman year full of bullies, battles, a ball or two, and even a dragon.
